Vocab August 26, 2014 Wednesday

I was so happy to know that there were a couple of students who went home and checked this website. Today they raised hands and told me that they didn't see the words I posted online. I told them to wait for an hour after school to check on it because I need some time to type, record, and upload to youtube and then copy the link to the blog. No matter what, I was so excited for the student's enthusiasm for the language. We had fun in class. For 1st period, since our assistant principal, Mr. Power, were in class students were so extremely quiet which to me was no good sign. Language learning needs fun. The kids are more relaxing, the more they will learn. After Mr. Power left, we played bingo game and whiteboard game. For 3rd period, we did the similar activities. Since students were not familiar with self-introduction about the following words, we practiced more.

Would you like to challenge yourself and see how much you've learned?
Watch the video and then quiz yourself. Good luck.

Participation課堂參與:

15 points a day will be given for actively participating.  Students are expected to come prepared, speak Chinese, and participate.  Students will receive extra points if they are extraordinarily on task, participate, well-prepared, or speak the target language at least 90% of the class time.  In case of an absence, students need to ask for a copy of homework on their own or go to Mrs. Duke web page under the school website to retrieve the information and learn what is taught in class at absence. MAKE SURE your name is on the homework and assignment sheets.   If a student is sick, they can do this at home on the day they are missing, or if they know they will miss class, they can prepare this assignment ahead of time.

Make-up Work/Homework 補交作業/家庭作業:

Assignments are to be turned in at the beginning of class on the day that they are due.  Students will have one week (per absence) to make up worked missed for an excused absence.  However, because of the nature of a foreign language class, some assignments will be impossible to make up---even if the absence is excused.  Late work may be accepted but only 10% of the points will be deducted.  In order to really learn to speak Chinese, students need to listen to and read in Chinese whenever possible.  Practice the language whenever and where ever possible!!!

Pass通行:

No pass will be given to go to the locker, the office, the restroom, or to get some drink. HOWEVER, you may earn the tokens by extra participating in class.

Extra Credit 額外分數 :

Students should take advantage of this opportunity when it occurs, in case the need for extra credit arises at the end of the term. Unused “pass” may be turned in at the end of the term for extra credit.
